About the Role

Future Planet Capital manages the £105m UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund (UKI2S) — a government-backed initiative focused on early-stage investments in sectors vital to UK economic advancement. This position places analysts at the center of deal sourcing, evaluation, and portfolio management across deep-tech ventures.

Investment Operations

  • Identify and evaluate emerging opportunities through multiple channels
  • Conduct due diligence across technical, commercial, and market dimensions
  • Prepare materials for Investment Committee review
  • Facilitate transactions from initial contact through closing
  • Coordinate with co-investors on syndicate development

Company Support

  • Collaborate with portfolio firms on strategic initiatives
  • Assist with capital-raising and stakeholder engagement
  • Track performance metrics and emerging risks

Ecosystem Development

  • Shape sourcing strategy and relationship networks
  • Partner with universities, accelerators, and ecosystem players
  • Build data-driven processes for identifying opportunities

Required Education & Experience

  • Postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in fields like biotechnology, molecular biology, or biochemistry
  • 1–2 years in relevant roles (science consulting, pharmaceutical work)
  • Preferred: startup exposure and venture capital internship experience

Essential Competencies

  • Scientific validity assessment and commercialization potential evaluation
  • Knowledge of development timelines, regulatory frameworks, and market challenges
  • Financial statement literacy
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Compensation

  • £40–60k salary
  • Discretionary performance bonus
