Associate Data Scientist - Marketing

$120k – $140k YearlyAustin, Texas, United States (Hybrid)Full-time23h ago
Bumble Inc. is looking for an Associate Data Scientist to join our Core Data Science team, supporting Marketing and User Acquisition (UA) measurement and insights. You’ll help uncover what drives acquisition performance across channels, improve how we evaluate spend and efficiency, and translate data into clear recommendations that support growth.
This role is ideal for someone early in their data science career who’s excited by commercial problem-solving and wants to work closely with marketing, product, and finance partners. You’ll use Python and SQL to explore data, build repeatable reporting/analysis workflows, and contribute to measurement frameworks that guide decision-making.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Partner with Marketing/UA, Product, and Finance teams to define and investigate key questions related to acquisition performance and growth.
  • Support measurement of campaign performance (e.g., efficiency, quality, retention, LTV/ROI), and help improve how results are tracked and reported.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, datasets, and analysis pipelines that make performance data accessible and trusted.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify patterns, drivers, and opportunities across channels, geos, and audience cohorts.
  • Help develop and operationalise experimentation and incrementality approaches (e.g., A/B tests, geo tests) to evaluate marketing impact.
  • Communicate insights clearly, turning analysis into practical recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Analytics and Data Engineering to improve data quality, definitions, and instrumentation relevant to acquisition and attribution.

EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 1–3 years of experience in analytics, data science, marketing analytics, consulting, or a similar role (tech/digital consumer experience a plus).
  • Strong Python skills for analysis and automation (e.g., pandas, notebooks) and strong SQL for data extraction and transformation.
  • Solid grounding in statistics and measurement concepts (e.g., confidence intervals, bias/confounding, experiment interpretation).
  • Comfort working with marketing/UA metrics and funnels (e.g., CPI/CAC, conversion rate, payback, retention) or strong interest in learning quickly.
  • Experience with data visualisation/storytelling (e.g., Looker, Tableau) and presenting insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset, curiosity, and a practical approach to solving ambiguous business problems.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Familiarity with attribution concepts and tooling (e.g., MMM outputs, SKAN-style constraints, channel reporting nuances).
  • Experience with causal/incrementality thinking.
  • Experience working with product funnels or lifecycle metrics in a consumer app environment.
  • Experience in a multi-sided marketplace and understanding it’s nuance & trade-offs

LOCATION

  • This role is based in Austin, and we ask that you’re within a commutable distance to this office, so that you’re able to come onsite regularly to collaborate across engineering teams.
  • We have a hybrid environment that requires you to be in the office Monday - Wednesday.
  • Please note: We are unable to offer Visa sponsorship at this time
